Intelligent Home Design

A school project revolving around design for the elderly.
Intelligent home design is a simple tightly integrated computer system, based around connectivity and RFID (radio-frequency identification) technology. Below are two examples of how it could possibly work.
Example 1. A smart fridge
The fridge screen displays information on the products inside it, such as recipes based on available products, calculalets calories, sugar etc., calls the store when products expire. The screen height is adjustable.
An RFID tag is included in the packaging of all products, featuring information, such as type of product, expiration date, quantity, ingredients etc. When the fridge door is closed, RFID tags are read and information is displayed on the screen.
The freezer compartment is automated; one pull opens it as a regular drawer; a second pull lifts it for convenient access.

Example 2. Tablet
The tablet and the fridge screen can possible be simpe terminals, with the main computer being stored in a different location.
The tablet, same as the fridge, features an RFID tag reader. In the above example, a box of medicine is put on the tablet and all information about dosage or side effects can be diplayed with huge fonts or the computer can read it out loud.
Real chess pieces featuring RFID tags can be used for conevnience and intuitivness. The computer reads the position of a newly moved piece and displays a signal to the opponent, who can move the corresponding piece on his own tablet.
