I recently attended Monthly Music Hackathon NYC, where - you guessed it - developers, designers and others come together for eight hours to execute on an idea, either solo or within a group.

The team I joined had an idea for a web application, built on RoR, to help musicians and artists find bands and vice versa. There would be filters such as music genres, talents/skills, location, etc., and there would also be a function for listings (bands looking for stand-ins, members, etc.). They name was "BandCupid".

I created a logo for the idea (used Sketch for the first time, it's great!):
The idea here was to make the shared "D" letter large enough to resemble a kick drum, and insert a heart as the pedal beater (no pun intdend. I wanted to include an actual heart, instead of the typical symbolic heart, because musicians/artists always put so much heart and soul into their music. Also, it's a witty way to play on the word "cupid".

Probably would've used a different font if there was more time.
Below are a some grayscale wireframes I created for the landing page, the profile view page, and the edit profile page. I also suggested the color scheme below, which I thought were equal parts dark and light, fun and serious, and gender-neutral.

The profile view shows a blurb about the musician, links to their work on Soundcloud, YouTube, etc., and their lifetime ratings. Also included room for an in-page messaging system at the top, so that users didn't have to navigate to a separate page to send a message.
When users edit their profiles, they can put their preferences in the left sidebar -- who they're looking for, their musical tastes, etc.
