In September 2013, two very dear friends tied the knot in Kusadasi in Turkey.  They approached me to design their wedding invites, as I had done a lot of work previously for one of the Grooms.  We discussed what they wanted and what look they were after over a few bottles of wine.

The boys decided that they wanted an exotic, rich, Ottoman theme for the invitations, seeing as the wedding was would be in Turkey.  They had images saved for ideas and inspiration, that were all beautiful, until we found an image of a mosque roof.  We all knew that this was the starting point for our invitation adventure.

The illustration below was carved into the roof, so I decided to use it as the basis for a repeat pattern.  The hand symbol is associated with Turkey and its appearance was part of the design brief.

This is a layout of the invitations laid out flat, with a view from back and front.  I send proofs of gold pattern on gold and gold pattern on purple, as this was the chosen colour scheme.  After a discussion, the boys decided that their preference was for gold on gold, with purple as the accent colour.

I used Temple Printing in Athlone for the printing, as I do with all my print jobs. They are a pleasure to work with and always do a perfect job.  They were printed on site and then sent away to be die cut.  The invitation was sealed with a gold sticker featuring the hand motif and didn't require an envelope.  The RSVP card was contained within the sealed unit.
Having always been a demon for having thimgs match, I couldn't help myself when I was doing the order of ceremony.  I used the same repeat pattern on the sheet, but this time in black and white for ease of printing.

I was lucky enough, not only to be invited to the wedding, but also to act as the Celebrant for the ceremony.  It was on the edge of a cliff, under trees in the Turkish sunshine.
