PIP - Protecting Ireland's Pollinators

Project Name: Protecting Ireland's  Pollinators - PIP Campaign.
Date: May 2022.
Client: National Biodiversity Data Centre.
Disciplines: App design, Branding & Print.

Ireland is struggling to protect the habitats and biodiversity of its native wild pollinators and action is urgently needed. Pollinators are all the small insects and mammals that visit flowers to feed off the nectar and pollen. This process provides us with essential foods and raw materials that are important to our survival. Increased human activity and the effects of climate change on our seasons, has led to a decrease in the amount of pollinator food and nesting sites available and is contributing to their decline.

The aim of this project was to provide a solution that raises awareness of the All Ireland Pollinator Plan and supports its actions through giving citizens mobile access to evidence
based information through a choice of entry level actions in an easily digestible format. It also works toward building a citizen science pollinator community so that progress and
data can be tracked and measured for future forecasting. The solution took the format of a mobile app called PIP (acronym for Protecting Ireland’s Pollinators) that gives it’s users all the information and resources they need to start taking action to protect the future of
our pollinators.

It includes entry level actions, a nectar calculator and a downloadable garden decoration kit that helps educate, promote and encourage others to take action.
