Kailua Fireworks is an organization located in Kailua, Hawaii. Their goal is to continue a 65 year old 4th of July tradition in Kailua town on the island of O'ahu. Kailua's 4th of July fireworks celebration has always been a volunteer effort, and runs on donations to maintain the fireworks show and events.
I was commissioned to create a logo for the organization, along with a tshirt design.
The logo was designed with purposeful hawaiiana imagery, with a palm tree serving as the "i" in Kailua. The tree's palms turn into a bursting firework towards the top, for 4th of July celebration. The islands silhouetted in stars and stripes behind the text are Kailua's Mokulua islands ("The Moks"), a scenic landmark located just off the coast of Lanikai beach.
The tshirt design corresponds closely with the logo, but with the addition of advertising an air show that precedes the fireworks. The design was limited to just a few colors for printing purposes.
