David Guttenfelder- A Thought-Provoking Photojournalist

Photography is an art that is capable of capturing moments of life which cannot be recreated. David Guttenfelder uses this art rather peculiarly; capturing a rather distinct reality in those parts of our world that our privilege fails to connect with.
A photographer for National Geographic, Guttenfelder focuses on geopolitical conflict, conservation and culture.
Most of these photographs were clicked in his iPhone.

Here is a glimpse of some of his extremely captivating collections.
Indian Color
An eccentric perspective of looking at how incredibly off the wall India really is. Feeling the nation in a light, that we knew existed but never acknowledged.

#NKorea
Guttenfelder grabbed the opportunity, when North Korea permitted tourists to put their camera to use. A compelling collection which opens our curious eyes to the mysterious North Korea in a way that sheds some light on this secluded nation.

Afganisthan- The Surge
A flood of astounding images which capture those nuances from Afghanistan which can send shivers down the viewers’ spine. A beautiful collection of the grave reality of the troopers stationed in Afghanistan.

American Phonographs
On coming back home after 2 decades, Guttenfelder photographed his home land as he found it. These photographs, taken on his iPhone, capture America in quite the unconventional manner that the nation is.

Photojournalism, in essence, is meant to expose reality like it is- no sugarcoating. And it is the duty and/or moral obligation of photojournalists to fearlessly bring out that reality and serve it to the world. David Guttenfelder, most definitely, does an inspiring job at that. A source influence in the world of photography, and rightly so.
