An experienced California superintendent with over 30 years of experience in the education sector, Steve Betando served as a principal of elementary schools. He later executed duties as a superintendent of Morgan Hill Unified School District. With the purpose of building professional foundations for himself and others during his career, Steve Betando supported the American Association of School Personnel Administrators as a member and Regional Director.

The American Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA) seeks to provide leadership through education, support, and advocacy initiatives on behalf of the members and students they serve. The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Summit is a two-day event designed for professionals keen on increasing their skills in areas of leadership, selection, recruitment, and retention of staff from diverse backgrounds.

Participants can choose sessions of interest during the summit, ranging from human resource strategic leadership to recruitment best practices that reflect diversity, equity, and inclusion. Other key skills shared during the summit include maintaining a diverse employee workforce, diversity, equity, and inclusion. The summit targets a wide range of professionals in the education sector, including superintendents, principals, district recruiters, assistant superintendents, school board members, and HR directors. The 2022 summit was slated for Chicago on April 28-29.
