Data Viz for MTA

Held by Rachel Abrams and the Metro Transportation Authority (MTA) of NYC, the 4-week workshop gathered MFA IxD students to create visual data narratives for MTA's monthly board meetings using the raw quantative data provided by MTA, in order to provide more tangible information and better decision making.

Sam and I were tasked with parsing, cleaning, and visualizing data from the MTA regarding how reliable certain types of train cars are. This data was then mocked up and presented in the format of a legible, user-friendly iPad app for members of the MTA. In the UI design, we used multiple time scales to convey macro trends as well as data from specific months, and even leveraged polynomial forecasting to provide a view into the future of train car reliability.
