Here is a menu project I did for my graphic arts class in Adobe Illustrator, although I did use some photoshop in all honesty. Illustrator is not really my specialty, and things like posters and such are especially not my specialty, however I think my work came out pretty good for what it is. As I was free to go with whatever I wanted for this menu, I decided to go with a "Latin/Romance" cultural themed restaurant. The food isn't necessarily the most unique but, the combination of foods such as Mexican, Italian, and French in one restaurant, is something not too common. There are two pages as the first is meant to be the cover/introductory page, while the second is the one containing the main entrées, forming a basic two sided menu that some restaurants have. Overall I kept the design rather simple, but still not so simple to where there was no distinctness to it.
For the cover page I decided to photoshop the flags of all the countries of the cultural sphere of my restaurant, which I overlayed over the map I illustrated from an actual picture of a map. I also photoshopped some ships into the waters of the map for extra design. I went with a Latin name for my restaurant because it reflects the cultural ties all the countries share and is also somewhat distinct. The name "Popina Mundi" however is rather simple, translating to "Restaurant of the World" or "World Restaurant." Lastly at the bottom of the page I added the main "highlight" meals of the restaurant along with written descriptions along with some photoshopped illustrations. I also went with a red and gold background for the bottom to fit a Roman theme.
I went with a plain and simple tan background color for the paper of my menu, while adding an illustration of mine with eagle holding the olive branch flying away from the sun, which is a slight variation of the dove with an olive branch, adapted to be more latinesque. I added illustrated pillars to the side to further fit the theme along with the title of the restaurant near the top right corner. I also clearly added headings in cursive with some food items I researched and picked for menu boxed under. The prices are made up, but the food items are realistic and the descriptions are as accurate as I could make them be. I also found some illustrations of my menu items online, which added to the middle, as it would've took far to long to truly illustrate them myself. All of these pieces combined round out my menu, which I was worried was going to look horrendous. However, in my opinion I think adding the food to the middle and boxing my some of the text really added the little extra I needed to salvage this design.
Here is my menu as a mockup paper menu attached to a clipboard. The full menu is covered here and you can get a quick look at what the restaurant truly has to offer along with a look of what an actual menu would be like on paper.
Here is a large size mockup of the menu I made, which some restaurants tend to have for their potential customers. It is once again nothing to complicated just more of a sign outside of the restaurant, utilizing my design, than something more unique and complex.
I decided to add another one of my illustrations in this Behance entry, with this being another project for graphic arts class, where we were tasked with doing a infographic. I decided to an infographic on video games as they are a rather popular activity in the modern day and age. I made a green/blue/red background to represent some of the major consoles on the market(Xbox, Playstation, and Nintendo). I also illustrated an Xbox controller, a keyboard, Switch, Ps5, and mic, to fill in the background and add to the videogame theme. Nothing too complicated, just takes some time to illustrate nicely. I also obviously added the text to the infographic including some lists, general facts, and history. I also made the pie graphs which are console color themed and packman themed, as well the bar graph which I photoshopped Mario into and made Mario-themed. I also added special bold gold text to point out major facts, and scattered them across the poster. Lastly I photoshopped some videogame characters in to round out the aesthetic of the poster.
It is a little hard to find an actual "mockup" for my infographic, since it something that would just stand alone online rather than be up somewhere, but here is a potential mockup. This is an electronic sign that could be potentially found on a city street. Although it's unlikely that an infographic would appear like this n public I don't rule out, and I think in this day and age a video game infographic wouldn't be to out of place as a sort of advertisment.
I also thought to myself, that I made a pretty decent logo for my menu, that would be able to stand alone, so here is the logo I made using may bird carrying the olive branch illustration along with adding some text and a red background.
Here's a quick mockup with my logo as I sign, and I got to say I don't think it's that bad,I think it would definitely work as a restaurant sign. It goes with the roman theme but it is also simultaneously modern, truly fitting the city background.
