"Sister Bluebird, flying high above. Shine your wings, over to the sun! Hide the mysteries, of life on your way!" -Yes, "Starship Trooper"
The early phase of sketching and inking Simultaneously. This commission came to me in pieces as I was actively drawing it.
This piece was for a Moebius Tribute. I had to really think about how Moebius would compose this piece and what motifs could fit in such as his affinity for crystals, deserts and imaginative aliens and technology.
I posted a video on my instagram showing a timelapse of the painting of the sky and ground. Check it out, its a good tutorial for filling in large monochrome areas using watercolors.
I added small flecks of white gel pen to help give certain objects a shiny contrast such as the shaman's orange gloves, and the shines on the crystal texture in the backgound. They are very subtle highlights.
