LIGHTING IN PUBLIC PLACES - Rapid Prototyping

It is really important for public parks to be well lit at night for both safety

reasons and for way finding through the park. The residents of a gated community in Bangalore, India have been victims of mugging and assault due to the lack of light in and around the park.

The aim of the project was to target a placed that lacked essential lighting, understand its characteristics and surroundings and provide a solution to the problem.

The park is proposed to have to different led light fixtures on and along the pedestrian bridge -embedded motion sensor recessed lights (solar powered) on the floor and regular ones on the canopy double-sided led panels along the railing.

Each canopy will have different coloured recessed lights on it with matching coloured motion sensor lights on the pathway leading to that specific canopy. This helps the walker to find their way to different canopies.

The lights on the railing will provide lighting in and around the bridge for safety.

The prototype was made using 3mm sun-board, paper, LED strips and batteries.
