Nike SB "Bubble Gum" pack–Boston Red Sox
Earlier this year, Nike SB unveiled the "Bubble Gum" pack, centered around MLB teams with official dunk images for the Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, and San Fransisco Giants. I loved this idea and have always appreciated Nike SB in their story-telling and details. I decided to expand upon this pack, starting first with the team I grew up watching the most: the Boston Red Sox.
My dad is from Boston so as a kid, we would visit his side of the family once or twice a year and I was able to even go to a couple games at Fenway.
On each pair by Nike SB, an illustration dons the inside of the tongue tag which is representative of the city and/or team alluded to. For my Red Sox pair I chose Boston to be represented by a lobster on the left shoe, and a tea bag on the right (a la Boston Tea Party). The insoles are reminiscent of the famous Green Monster, the 37-foot wall that towers over left field and has become an icon for Fenway Park, the Red Sox, and Boston itself.
