The Story of Eileen the Crow

If justice is ever made video games will, one day, be judged by their best examples and not by their worst.
In this future, decades from now, games like Bloodborne will be studied in schools as the pieces of art that they are, the same way Shakespeare's or Michelangelo's works are studied today.

Bloodborne is not trying to be an interactive film or a sophisticated pastime. It uses video game language to tell a story that could only be told in a video game. Like in its predecessors, there's little talk, context, or explanations. There's only play and it is only through play that we can figure things out.
Anyone who knows From Software games knows them by their spectacular and *challenging* combat - this difficulty is not random and it's not there for difficulty's sake. It supports a larger theme and story where every victory is earned and every loss is a lesson... And every time we think we've finally figured it out, the game turns on its head and pulls the rug from under us - It's a constant struggle of barely making it.
I think the first original thing I ever did was a monster and for some reason, my standards for monsters have always been extremely high - I think it is partially because I found the xenomorph at a fairly young age - so young, that in my mind, it has always been there.
Although I don't believe anyone will ever top Giger's creation - there are still a few people out there, like Miyazaki and his team, who clearly understand monsters - and the Amygdala is the proof of that.
How do you create something that represents fear itself? You create the Amygdala.

Right at the beginning of Bloodborne, we're introduced to the very primal concept of the hunt - in which we, the hunters, are tasked with cleaning the streets of all the beasts and abominations that roam in it. It's a very straightforward - and somewhat derivative concept - but from the very beginning you feel that something's off - experiencing the hunt slowly turning into something else is one of my favorite things ever and a masterclass on how to tell stories in video games.
If the Souls games are a metaphor for life, Bloodborne is a metaphor for meaning.
In all of our obsessions, this quest for answers will most likely into madness - but by the end, we realize that enlightenment and madness may not be that different after all.
