Proverbial Wisdom Project Background:
This is a project from a Design class my Sophmore year at Grand Canyon University. I was tasked with creating a unique typography arrangement of a verse or quote. I selected Proverbs 4:23, "Above all else guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."
Proverbial Wisdom Thumbnails:
To get the the final copy I started with sketching 16 thumbnails of what I wanted the final to look like. Out of those 16 I selected my 6 favorites with the target market of a young teenage girl in mind.
Proverbial Wisdom Roughs:
From the 6 favorite thumbnails I created 3 digital roughs.
Proverbial Wisdom Color Variations:
From the 3 digital roughs I picked 1 favorite and experimented with 4 color variations. When playing with colors I tried to select some that would either represent what the verse is trying to convey or appeal best to young teenage girls.
Proverbial Wisdom Final:
From the 4 color variations I selected this to be the final typography arrangement. I thought that because the verse talks about guarding ones heart I would go with white lettering on top of a light red color. The white to represent purity, because when you guard your heart your goal is to keep it pure. And the red is an arguably universally known color for love and hearts, I lightened the red to help appeal to the target market better.
