Anthony Lister, who currently lives and works in Sydney, was born in Brisbane, Australia, in 1979.
He relocated to New York City in 2003 after receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Queensland College of Art. While in New York, Anthony Lister was mentored by Max Gimblett, a well-known New Zealand-born painter. He ran into him at the Queensland Art Gallery, which was hosting the opening of a big solo exhibition.
