Hearts of Darkness, 2014

"Hearts of Darkness" is a Valentine's day haunted house attraction. It's an off-season income generator for the client, a regualr of mine who (clearly) runs a successful haunted house and whom I've had the pleasure to work for since 2009. This was the first year Hearts of Darkness ran, so we had to really make the marketing take a normally saccharrine day and inject it with a sinister vibe without going for the easy stuff like straight up gore, cleaved hearts, or repurposed cliches. That's the easy way out. Style and creepiness should always go hand in hand, in my book.
Haunt attraction graphic. Used for teasers, signgage over the haunt entrance, and small advertising pieces.
The annotated sketch that got final approval from the client.
11x17 Promotional poster for the event distributed about the area.
8.5x11 filer design. The client wanted to run off super cheap fliers on a regular sheet that could be trimmed into thirds. It also had to copy well on different colors AND have all the pertinent info in a small space.
Large, 4x4 foot sheet of coroplast for the interior of the haunt. Cut into three pieces to yield two large theme signs and one large story board for the beginning of the queue. This kind of design requires good communication with the printer to establish bleeds and trims, along with final file size. At 4x4 feet the file can bloat quickly.
