The extreme, often irrational fear of flowers is called Anthophobia. The word “Anthophobia is a combination of two Greek words namely anthos meaning flowers and phobos meaning fear or deep aversion.” (Olesen Jacob, 2020). The fear of flowers gets attached to a person’s mind if something negative has happened with them. Repeated traumatic events can cause the fear of flowers. Some people associate flowers with funerals. A child that watches a horror movie that has some link with flowers, can keep the child away from flowers for life. In some cases, fear of flowers become a prominent part of a person’s personality and causes reflex actions towards it. Women are more likely to be prone towards this phobia than men. But experiencing a traumatic situation is not only the only cause of the appearance of phobia, but phobias can also appear as a result of vicarious conditioning. Even watching a scary movie in which roses appear in bloody scenes of the movie. It can take a toll on their mental health, physical health, and even relationships.
