Cheyenne Mountain Zoo 2009 Non-Traditional Ads

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs had focused on traditional summer promotional advertising for tourists. This campaign changed the approach up by using an educational message that locally engaged the public and brought issues like wildlife, conservation and environmentalism to life in the community.

Traditional media was strongly supported by numerous guerilla tactics; huge animal decals placed on buildings throughout the city, a city bus being “swallowed” by a huge snake, and others.

The result has been not only incredible word-of-mouth, press coverage and social media buzz, but record attendance for the zoo.

This campaign was won multiple awards including: The NDA 50, American Advertising Federation, Colorado Springs - Best of Show, and Silver & Finalist Obie Awards 2010. This work was done while working at Vladimir Jones.
