CIRCLE OF LIFE | COVID 19 MEMORIAL BRIDGE
Monument is situated at the liberty state park facing the statue of liberty, situated in an area with many other monuments such as 9/11 memorial.
Rotating circle with engravings depicts the lost lives due to covid 19 pandamic.
People can experience the monument by being at the Liberty state park premises.
The vehicle users experience the monument at the top of the monumental bridge while going for their day to day work. They get to experience the therapeutic view of the sky as well a different and new view of the surrounding monuments and the circulating remembering circle
As humanity experiences pandemics like COVID-19 the world claims for a pause. Humans shall rethink, readapt, remember to care for one another and to be able to listen to the unison prayer within us. Across all cultures, a ubiquitous symbol represents all that is sublime – the circle. Movement of circle represent the cycle of time, the perpetual motion of everything that moves (birth, growth, decline, death) & the power and energy that the cosmos holds It’s an infrastructure that’s responsive to the biggest problems in NYC as flooding, global warming, high traffic, density & inequality. Need for more green space (due to flooding and transit deserts), energy efficiency & wind movement are also considered throughout. Memorial is about the needs of the living than the dead.
