Matcha and Bubble

I just finished participating in the CWG Game Jam 2022. It was a difficult, but fun jam. I got to work with an amazing artist and programmer. It was everyone's first or second game jam, so we were all still new to scoping, planning, and organizing our project. This is also the first game I've completed in Unity. Despite the steep learning curve we were still able to produce a game that showcases our artist's beautiful work.

One of the challenges was prioritizing what would actually make the cut. With only 24 hours left, we had a placeholder character moving on some platforms. We made the decision that our number one priority was implementing the art assets over trying to add game mechanics like wall jumping. The other programmer worked on replacing our placeholder character, walls, and ground with the Boba themed art.
Meanwhile I worked on adding dialogue which would display the characters speaking, like a visual novel. This took me the majority of the night and I learned a lot about Unity's UI tools.
We worked on the game down to the last minute. We were sad we did not have time to add more content or fix some of the bugs we ran into, but ultimately, we're proud of the what we did get done during the jam. The game can be found here!
