The main idea of the installation is to emphasize the works of Rembrandt himself - they are carried by floorstanding dark objects, which also imaginatively symbolize his own personality. This approach allows a clear visual differentiation of his own works, from the works of his contemporaries, which are placed directly on the white walls of the Kinsky Palace. The installation deliberately creates a dialogue with the architecture of the palace. The central enfilade is preserved on purpose. The installation gradually changes the height and volume of the exhibition. The visitor thus gradually discovers Rembrandt‘s work and personality, from smaller graphic works and paintings to his largest masterpieces, such as the painting The Scholar in the Study, in the largest halls. After this piece of art, the exhibition calms down into a later work. The floorstanding objects are designed simply with minimalistic details. Locally placed dark grey velvet surfaces serve as a basis for all Rembrandt‘s graphic works, they support their softness and absorb excess light.
