Contour and line drawing manipulation

I photographed a rose as roses have many different textures and lines from the flower to the leaves of the stem. I used different shades of pink in the flower to draw attention to the flower. I used the watercolour brush to give the flower a different texture. I used grey as the colour of the leaves because I wanted the focus of the design to be focused on the bright green of the stem and the eye-catching pink of the flower.
I photographed a butterfly as butterflies have many different lines within the wings. For this design I thought it would stand out and look unique if I used a bold stroke for the outline of the butterfly and used the chalk brush to add different lines and texture. I kept the design as black and white to really emphasize the choice of stroke and brush. Colour could have distracted the viewer from the choice of strokes and brushes.
I photographed my shoes because I was intrigued by all the different lines that shoes have. For my design I used the element look of a shadow on the shoes. I thought by giving the illusion of a shadow it would further emphasize the purple in the shoe. Since purple is such a distinctive colour I chose to only use that colour in the design.
