Avenir Next Poster Design
Drawing nice elaborate illustrations may make posters attractive, but what makes them really work is the written information appearing on them.
- Akira Kobayashi
The objective of this project was to create a poster for fonts.com to promote a typeface to designers. The poster was supposed to showcase the versatility of the chosen typeface and communicate important information about its history and marketing. The typeface I chose was Avenir Next Pro – a 2004 revival of a classical typeface by Adrian Frutiger and Akira Kobayashi.

Since the typeface is modern and clean, I wanted to reflect that in the design of the poster. I used a grid layout to organize the information and achieve good alignment. To create a clear focal point, I chose a bright purple shade to highlight the "n" at the intersection of the two words. For repetition, I used the same shade of purple to highlight the names of the designers. I also carried the slight asymmetry of the x glyph to the ribbon at the bottom of the design.

Overall, I strived for a clean design that will allow the typeface to shine. I used the principles of design and colors in a way that enhances the strenghts of the typography, but doesn't overpower it.
