Those Closed Shapes

In direct relationship with the series "Excavation" these drawings were made alongside the final stages of the previous panel paintings. It was an experiment on paper using a similar language of material and mark-making techniques.
 
The main difference in approach to these drawings was the attempt to create a feeling of history and time-based development with single sessions. So unlike the panel paintings which were developed over the better part of a year, these drawings were harnessing immediacy. They were not re-addressed, nor was paint given even the time to dry; this resulted in un-planned color blending and a variety of color and material consistency.
 
The marks stem from an obsession with subjective contour completion.
