Poverty - Life in Contrast

I've inspired by Gordon Roger Alexander Buchanan Parks and focused on his "poverty" series for my photography project. He had focused on issues regarding racism, poverty, civil rights, and urban life and conveyed all of his messages through the lens of his camera.

I've lived through similar experiences in my life as Gordon Parks and experienced personally similar injustices. Because of that, I've focused my camera to the streets where poverty exist and noticed the forgotten and rusted homeless people and the disappearance of the color of life. I took an advantage on black and white colors for better expression of drama on my composition as well as he did.

I've tried to express poverty with the darker values and lighter values are generally used for the volume of hope and continues life. Repeating white shaped always divides patterns in composition and it created a dynamic message to the viewer.

Process
As a great photographer, Gordon Parks also applied principles to make his compositions interesting, powerful and dynamic. I've also applied basic principles that makes my composition well balanced and interesting. Rule of third, diagonal line and dynamism that applies to the process of my works.
