Zeus is a package design project whose objective was to create an identity for an energy bar, along with a wrapper and a point-of-purchase display box that the energy bars would be shipped and sold in.

The energy bar would be marketed towards athletes. With this in mind, I thought of the origins of the Olympic Games. It was from this that I came up with the idea to name the energy bar Zeus – after the Greek god of the same name. He was the god of sky and thunder and ultimately the father of gods, ruling over the Olympians at Mount Olympus.

Since the lightning bolt is one of Zeus’s most common symbols, I included it in the center of the wrapper. Additionally, the letters of the hand-lettered Zeus logo have jagged ends that mimic the qualities of a lightning bolt. The wrapper and point-of-purchase display box also depict columns and patterns that are inspired by the illustrations and graphics on ancient Greek pottery. If this energy bar ever went to market, then metallic gold ink would ideally be used to print the darker gold graphics on the wrapper and point-of-purchase display.
