ANEW - RECYCLE CENTER
This project is targeting Sustainable Development Goal 11, to make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. In further explanation, it is focusing on target 11.6, which aims to reduce the environmental impacts by paying attention to municipal and waste management. There are facts that prove the implementation of mandatory waste separation is less successful in Malaysia. Hence, this recycle center aims to improve and encourage public behaviour on waste segregation for recycling. This can be a step to move towards a clean city environment.
There are few areas that can be explored at the recycle center. The recycle center can be explained in 3 separated zones, which are RECYCLE, REDUCE and REUSE. At “RECYCLE” zone, it is mainly used for collecting recyclable items. There is a drop-off area for the collection of recyclable items. Recyclable items like plastic bottles, papers, clothing, glass, aluminium and metals are collected. Not only as a waste, these recycled items can be used as decorative items. The recycled bottles, aluminium cans can be added to the wall cabinets. Papers like old catalogues and posters can be attached on the wall to produce the art of collage with recycled items. The items will be collected by the staff for recycling when it is fully occupied.

For “REDUCE” and “REUSE”, it is implied with the meaning of reducing to develop for new resources and materials, but reusing the recycled materials. To encourage public use of recycled products, retail shop is selling products and handicrafts that are made from recycled materials. Interactive zone for the public to experience waste segregation virtually at the same time to consolidate the importance of waste segregation into the public's memory. As to fully carry forward on reusing recycled products, a workshop for making souvenirs and handicrafts is opened to the public. Through this, inculcating ideas to the public, that rubbish can be reused and transformed into new items which are useful.
