Fantasy Tavern Environment Design

A general fantasy tavern I designed for my Lighting, Rendering, & Materials class final. I sculpted a majority of the complex props such as the furnace, tankards, and candles in Zbrush. Modeling the simpler props such as the dart board case, bottles, and map in Maya. I designed all textures and materials in Substance Painter, and I rendered it using Maya Arnold.

I wanted to create something that's small, yet dense and tightly packed with a large amount of character. Adding in small details like having doodles on the chalkboard from different time periods and how the book is titled "Stealing For Dummies".

When laying out the scene, my professor pointed out that the dartboard was in a weird position. You wouldn't be able to play if anyone was sitting at the bench, you would have to throw it over a table of people. After thinking about it for a bit, I somewhat like the idea that this is the kind of bar where sharp objects are just haphazardly tossed over a bench of patrons. Watch your head.
