TASTY MEMORIES (BOSTON EDITION)
2021

These were food studies done as a part of Pleinairpril 2021, organized by Warrior Painters! I absolutely love looking at food (and illustrating them, and eating them...) so these were such a joy to do. I tried my best to limit these studies to 2-3 hours.
O Ya Restaurant
Had these wonderful little bites of uni on milk toast topped with Ikura and drizzled with truffle honey a couple of years ago at O ya. Pricey, but what a treat!
163 Vietnam Sandwich
The first banh mi I’ve ever had was from this little shop in Boston’s Chinatown called 163 Vietnamese Sandwiches.
It’s really easy to miss and I often walked past it without even realizing.
Coriander is gross on its own, but on this sandwich with all the other ingredients..
It balances all the flavours and becomes yum 🤤
Also, it’s only $4.50 for a massive sub!
What a good deal in the city.

Neptune Oyster
Went to Neptune Oyster for the oysters, but fell in love with the johnnycakes instead. 🤤
(Did not know what johnnycakes were, but glad I found out. 😬)
Clay Pot Café
A quaint place called Clay Pot Café in Chinatown which serves Cantonese style claypot rice -
A little different from the Singapore style that is drizzled with dark soy sauce but just as delicious.
Union Square Donuts
Boston Cream donuts from Union Square Donuts are the best!
Boston cream anything, probably -- Dark chocolate ganache and pastry cream is most possibly
the best flavor combination ever (for desserts). With a special appearance from
brown butter hazelnut crunch - my 2nd favorite flavor from them.
Bagelsaurus
I absolutely love the Hot Smoked sammich from Bagelsaurus.
A mountain of dill, crunchy pickled red cabbage, pungent red onion, cream cheese, and flakey salmon smooshed
between soft and chewy bagel with a crispy exterior. Mmmm. 🤤🤤

Flour Bakery + Cafe
I don't typically like to eat stuff dripping in ooey gooey sugary syrup, but these pecan sticky buns from Flour,
Mm MM. Irresistible goodness! 🤤❤️
Thanks for stopping by!
