It was a great challenge to create this as it has a fun subject. What is not to like about Pirates.... Treasure and a Deadly Kraken!
Please see below for some of the render passes created from the 3D render. I created the entire scene in Autodesk Maya then retouched in Photoshop.
After outputting the 32bit 3D Render I started combining the render passes going 'back to beauty' a common practice to get the most out of the 3D render. I then began retouching the image adding all of the elements that couldn't be done in 3D.
The Client required both Landscape and Portrait versions for different use cases so I made sure to create the two variants each with different elements in the scene.
