Greatest Hits - Main Singles Cover Concept

I love when a band releases singles with cover art specifically made for that release instead of using the cover art for their album. So, for this project (which I made by myself for fun, with no affiliation to the band) I decided to create cover art for the three main singles that were released for the album Greatest Hits by one of my favorite bands, Waterparks.

My main inspiration for this project was collage art / scrapbooking. The color scheme of red, yellow and red was established by the band at the beginning of the Greatest Hits era, and fans were quick to pair a color with a single, which I made here, too. Blue for Snow Globe, red for Numb and yellow for Lowkey as Hell.

Every design is inspired by a specific lyric on the song it represents. For the first single, Lowkey As Hell, I grabbed inspiration from the chorus: "If you need me now, I'll be there somehow, I'll pick you up, we can ride // I'll fly away like I bought my own airline, I'll take you with me, we can ride.”

For the band’s second single, aside from the self-explanatory snow globe, I based the design on this lyric: “I’ve been dead since 2016, so good morning, can you fix me?”

For this era’s third single, which has more of an angsty vibe, I chose this lyric: “Now I'm mad about—I don't know what, all I know is that this isn't fun, the more I wrap myself up, the more I'm coming undone”. For this specific design I decided to incorporate a support color, green, because in the pre-chorus the singer, Awsten Knight, references his past album, FANDOM, which had a mainly green color palette.
