Terra Manipura
Communication Design: Branded Packaging Design
BRIEF
This is an open brief where students could explore any concept related to food - anything consumable.
The aim of this brief is to try our hand at art direction.

CONCEPT
Terra, is an artisanal, healing tea brand named the Roman mythological goddess of the earth. The brand’s product range features seven different types of tea - each herbal blend is tailored to suit the needs of each of the seven chakras and the parts of the mind and organs within the body that they are relative to. Manipura is one of the seven types of tea Terra has to offer, and the model concept presented within my final work for this brief.

The aim of the packaging of this tea is for it to be an experience to open and enjoy. Everything from the box sliding out of the sleeve, to the perfectly fitted card explaining the tea properties and relevant chakra, to each individual and unique affirmation on each of the tea bags inside the box all adds to a unique and ritual-like experience.

RETROSPECTION
This project was one of the most challenging and rewarding of this academic year. This was my first time making packaging and it felt really satisfying to build something physical instead of just working digitally. I learned a lot about packaging structures, the importance of physical prototypes, and time management - having never done packaging before I didn’t realise how long it takes to create a physical product. I had a plethora of ideas for this project but I really had to scale down in order to meet the deadlines which taught me a realistic timeline of packaging design.
