Thirty Day Logo Challenge - Day 18

LaserCut specializes in abrasive machining using the latest in computer controlled CAD/CAM and multi-headed machines. They use two of nature's own elements; water and highly refined abrasive, propelled at three times the speed of sound, to make incredibly accurate and precise cuts in virtually any material.

They're mostly in the business of providing an alternative method to 3D printing.

The client requests that the logo be simple and convey their service of creating highly detailed molds, jigs, and equipment from any 3D file that is supplied to them. Customers are rarely familiar with their WaterJet technology, so they want to avoid heavily relying on visual references to water. They would like the design to convey sharp edges, craftsmanship, or the idea of 3D printing.

The logo design that I created works very well for this company in many ways. Not only are the colors professional but the blue also represents water which they use in their machines to make the cuts.

The top and bottom portions of the logo are shaped like the jet nozzles of the machines. There are also diamond shapes in this design, diamonds are known for having cuts (the cut of a diamond ring). Diamonds are also one of the hardest materials and are often used for cutting as well.

The shape of this design also forms the letters of the companies name. The blue portion of the logo is an 'L' and they grey the 'C'.

I used sharp edges in this design as the client requested. I also included the three cuts to form the shape of the letters and to represent the type of service the company provides.
