Advanced Animation

This project consists of a compilation of works done under a module called Advanced Animation, where I further my studies in 3D Animation. The works involved playing around with 3D models of a ball, a fox, a UFO, a floursack and character models using Maya.
The first few exercises worked with simpler models. It was to understand the techniques and the tools of the software in animating. I also learned how to adjust the frames and move the models following the principles of animation. Below are the outcomes.
Next, a floursack model was given by my lecturer to animate it with organic movements so it feels alive. The floursack animation practice is said to be a good fundamental practice before moving on to complex models like humans.
I animated one that was jumping upwards on the same spot and another one that jumped forward. I feel that the one that was moving forward could be better improved ever so slightly because it seems like it's sliding a bit.

Next, I moved on to animating a character model. Below are animated movements of jumping, walking and running.
I realized that the jumping animation feels a little too robotic in that there isn't enough dynamism. The walking animation makes the character look tense and not relaxed while the running animation has his arms twitching at certain frames. These are just some of the points that I feel I could take into consideration the next time I animate something like these.
Lastly, I was given choices of free character models to use for animating. I chose a model called Neka. I started off a simple expression exercise with her first.
For this work, I have to choose a small clip from a film/show and try to replicate their gestures along with their expressions. I was also instructed to make the character talk using the voice lines of a person from the selected show. I chose Modern Family. The timeframe of my selected scene is 2:07 - 2:27.
The finalized version is as follows:
