FicTix & Freepass
Multi-channel retailing

Context
FicTix is a Rio de Janeiro based studio that develop interactive installations aiming to bring delightful experiences through product design, custom hardware and software solutions. Freepass is a Salvador based startup who wants to bring an Amazon GO buying experience to Brazil. They partner to bring that vision up through a series of installations through the city of Salvador. The first one was a locker system integrated to a mobile app. They asked me to join them as their digital product designer consultant.

My Role
As their product designer I was responsible to take the findings of their product discovery (led by FicTix Jr. Designer Isabella) and create the mobile app experience. I ran competitive analysis researches, mapped user flows, created wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes. I also was responsible to define the app’s visual design language which was the foundation for future applications.

The Opportunity
The findings made on product discovery was very clear about who we would design this solution for: people that are constantly on a rush, living alone or with other stressful routine partners, who needs flexible hours to do their groceries.

The Solution
With such a fast paced routine in mind we designed an app capable of delivering the right products on the right place in a predictable time. The shoppers may use the app to buy their supplies and choose to receive it on a particular address or to pickup one of FreePass's smart lockers throughout the city.

Learnings & Outcomes
Freepass was a really fun project. I was able to work on a completely different industry from my regular full time job, but amidst the project the client's asked us to pause it due business emergencies, and by the time they wanted to resume I was no longer available to work on it. The app was intended to both iOS and Android, but by the time I finished this study case only the Android version was released.
