Bergdorf Goodman Sustainable Design

I made it crucial that I represented Bergdorf Goodman's true aesthetic: luxury, drama, exaggeration, just a destination where one can come to find things they wouldn't find at other department stores such as Macy's or Bloomingdales.
To me the Bergdorf Goodman target customer is someone who really appreciates luxury and nice things. This customer is quite stylish, keeps up with trends and fashion through social media, blogs etc, they like traveling, they're just very into the finer things and appreciate the exclusivity in products that Bergdorf Goodman provides.
I was inspired by a beauty trend for 2015 that I researched via WGSN. This project is inspired by the natural world, specifically entomology (study of insects) which is a trend I've been following for quite some time. I wanted to put my own spin on it and give it a futuristic approach. I decided to take that approach by using eco-friendly cardboard robot mannequins. As far as overall color palette it wanted it to be soft but dramatic...mostly a use of metalics and jewel tones.
Being that the purpose of this project was to create sustainable designs, I had to come up with creative ways to do that while still staying true to my overall concept and vision. I decided to use mostly scrap metal from junk yards and thrifted items (copper radiators (for insects), metal turnings (grass-like background), bicycle parts (wings), cardboard robot mannequins, and eco-friendly metallic paints to paint the insect sculptures.
I wanted to keep the windows somewhat simple but obviously add some drama. The windows are flanked meaning two separate windows. I hand sketched these illustrations using watercolors and pen.
In both my in-store display and wall-display (basically both wall displays), I wanted to keep them simple and organized. The apparel inspiration comes from the Lanvin F/W 2013 RTW collection. I again hand sketched these illustratons with watercolors and pen.
