TOYS OF INDIA
As a final year student of applied arts, the following poster and book are a part of my illustration project which had been undertaken during my internship at Boomblast Design, Bengaluru.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to Mr. Satish Gangaiah at Boomblast Design for providing a wonderful chance to do this project. The opportunity helped me improve my research and illustration skills and has educated me more on the subject.
India has a rich culture of storytelling through its toys. Our ancestors have been preserving this culture by making toys which show a perspective of life. Historically Indian toys date back to 5000 years and the earliest examples include the excavated toys and dolls found in Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro which consisted of small carts, dancing woman, etc. However, with the advent of video games and, phone screens becoming the new definers of the Gen Z’s childhood, there are many traditional toys that have either lost their significance or business.

Hence, the aim of this project is to spread awareness about the age old traditions of toy making of our country and try to bring them back in the mainstream toy making business.
