Class: Advertising Illustration 

Prompt: we picked from one of 10 articles to make a poster for a sensitive topic. Our professor talked about the importance of sharing the weight of the issue without crossing the line of being insensitive. 

Above: Rough sketches of ideas for different topic

Bottom: We decided I would go with the topic "Guns in the home". The topic was about how kids do not understand the difference between toys and real guns

I tried to show this topic by having a small hand reaching past a squirt gun and to a real one. (my roommate who is 25 modeled for me, and we used my boyfriends gun after he removed the magazine and checked to make sure it was empty.)

I was torn between showing this tragedy of kids not understanding by showing both guns in fun colors, to illustrate that to kids they are all toys.My Professor prefered the image on the right, due to the weight of the topic he did not want me to portray them as toys.
