Redesign of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Redesign of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

The goal of my limited edition version of The Great Gatsby was to modernize the design and create a minimal and elegant version of the well loved classic novel. I wanted to make a version of the book that would match my simple and minimalist aesthetic while still staying true to The Great Gatsby and its themes.
The typeface Sofia Pro used throughout the novel as a chapter titles and running headers to give a minimalistic and modern twist on this classic novel. For the body of the book, the typeface Lora is used. Lora was used for the body text because it is a modern san-serif typeface with easy readability that fits perfectly with the design direction. The chapter openings throughout the book feature simple text that helps give the book a modern look. For the end sheets and cover, I chose to use colors and textures that are true to the original aesthetic of the book. The end sheets I used were 65lb scrapbook paper featuring a muted, metallic gold finish that gives the feel of the glitz and glam of 1920’s New York while still feeling cohesive with the design of the book interior. For the cover of the book, I used a dark green goat leather to give a high end look to the book. I used the green color due to the iconic green light mentioned in the novel.
