BRIDGE DESIGN
WWII known as the war of the genocide, where thousands of individuals lost their lives at the cost of discrimination and division across our world. Death is a subject as humans that is difficult to process and understand, causing us to avoid acknowledging it all together. However, in order to find peace, it is critical that we acknowledge the past, where we came from, and the lives that have been lost to get us here.
The bridge is a visual representation of peace, supported by what lies beneath the surface. The arch above symbolizes the future, while the x below symbolizes our past. It spans across the Potomac River as a pedestrian bridge above and place of refuge for the creatures that live below.
