Cal-wood Art in the Park.
Last year Colorado was ravaged by the Cal-wood fires which covered most of northern Colorado in a blanket of smoke. This year 35 artist and I were asked to paint on these benches that were made from the dead trees of the fire.
I took my usual surreal approach with this bench. I wanted to depict a love story that would capture the viewer from all sides. I remember learning of the idea that the moon would chase the sun because they were madly in love but they could never really be together unless on the special occasion of an eclipse.
I used a mixture of acrylic paints and spray paint that was covered in urethane and varnish. All sides are painted to match the scene.
