SCAD | JEN LIBRARY TRANSFORMATION
PROJECT BRIEF:
Time: 10 weeks | Work Force: 7 Designers
Role: Research, Data Analysis, Visual Production, Design of New Services, Project Management
FOCUS:
How can the SCAD Jen Library be transformed in order to make it a more reliable, welcoming, and trustworthy resource of information and service? How will these transformations extend the boundaries of the library's services in order to meet the unique needs of the SCAD community?

SCAD JEN LIBRARY:
Located in the heart of downtown Savannah, the Jen Library exists to support and promote the academic goals of the university: to prepare students for professional careers, emphasize learning through individual attention and uphold a positively oriented university environment.

MARKET LANDSCAPE:
In order to understand the Library at large we needed to begin from a brand perspective.
We used the double diamond method to help the client visual the divergent and convergent stages of our design process, demonstarting the different methods of thinking that our project incorporates.
DISCOVER & DEFINE:
Affinitization of data and insights gathered through our primary and secondary research.
RESEARCH REPORT:
The midterm presenation that was presented to the client on week 5 of our project. This report delivers on the discover and define portion of our research process.
* The midterm research report in it's entirety.
DEVELOP & DELIVER:
After our midterm research report our focus shifted to developing solutions to design opportunites that arose from our research.
FRAMING SOLUTIONS:
In order to communicate our solutions they needed to be organized in a framework of concept viability. We decided to categorize solutions by timeframe: immediate, short-term (2-5 years), and long term (2020). The 2020 plan relates back to SCAD's larger goal for their entire organization.
Our team working closely with the Jen librarians in order to develop realistic solutions.

Campaign to emphasize the changing model and role of a library
FINAL DESIGN REPORT:
This presentation documents the development and delivery of design concepts that came out of the midterm research findings. The presentation and content were developed over a 5 week period and were presented to the client for the final. Skip to slide 24 if you wish to see design solutions.
TRANSFORMATION:
Our design solutions were well recieved by the Librarians and our suggestions have been taken into consideration for implementation by the SCAD Design group. We are pleased to report that some immediate sollutions have already been implemented within the Library.
Thanks for viewing!
