To improve our idea from Module 3 we decided to ditch the weatherproof kit, and create a bike fender that would fold up into a bike seat cover when the bike was not in use. We also decided to take this idea further and not only protect the seat but also the gears. This idea was aimed at the people who use their bike as their main means of transportation or those who use nice bikes and want to protect them from bad weather. After doing some research and looking at materials we decided to take this idea and work from it....
Why only protect part of the bike when you can protect the whole thing?

Material used in first prototype: Polyethylene
New Research
We thought that we could use some sort of folding method to make the bike cover collapsible, while still keeping it's durability and protectiveness. We found a folding design online that was used to make a collapsible cup for drinking. After some attempts however, we found that folding was not the best way to go about this project.
In the end, we decided that we should have the bike cover be attached to the bike, and roll out of two cylindrical cover holders. This proved a better solution, and the prototype ended up being a good representation of our idea.
