#865Meets901 Logo ideas
Currently learning Adobe Illustrator for future projects for surface pattern design. While in the process of learning a new design platform, I decided to create a logo for a hashtag I started a year ago, but never gain speed. My challenge  is to create a clear and logical logo that represent the #865Meets901. I want to be able to illustrate the unique features of each end of the state (ex: landmarks: Memphis Pyramid and Knoxville Sunsphere).

My goal is to create a curated gallery that would bring artist from both East and West Tennessee together to share the unique qualities of Tennessee. The requirements that each artist must be from one part of the state, but currently living on the opposite end of the state. Or in between.  Like myself, I grew up in East Tennessee (865 area code), now reside in the Memphis (901 area code).

Snap shots of Memphis (901) and Knoxville (865) landmarks
Created clip art in Adobe Capture
Please don't judge. I know it's not great.  I was playing  around with basic shapes. This is just the first version.  Not digging the icons at this point, but it's a start.
I flipped the icons to visually indicate East Tennessee and West Tennessee.
Still not crazy about this.
Scrap the previous versions all together. Though I may return to it at some point in the future. Using a clip art of the state of Tennessee. Star indicates the 865 area and the red circle the 901 area. I may add some lines  or other elements to visualize migration to western part of the state.  Not sure on the # text portion yet. Back to the drawing board!

2 versions with the focus on shapes and text. I chose blue for Memphis Tigers and orange for Vols.  The second version added the color to area code to represent east and west sides of the state.
Logo 1 using the butterfly to represent Dolly Parton's song 'Butterfly'.  Dolly Parton native to east Tennessee. So using the butterfly to represent  the "865' area code.
This version, I replaced the butterfly  with the bear. The bear represents the Great Smoky Mountains.
Still working on this to include the West Tennessee icon.
