The client requested an unusual bookmark for their hotel. Guests would find it in their rooms and be able to take it with them, and as such it needed to incorporate something that would remind visitors of their trip. The Badersee, a small lake located just outside of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, is unusual because of the bronze statue of a mermaid that was sunk in the lake sometime before the hotel was built. Some believe that the “Märchenkönig” himself, King Ludwig the II, was behind the mermaid’s new home. Using this story as inspiration, the bookmark was given the shape of a colorful mermaid’s tail, while the story of the statue was placed on the back.
