சிறு உள்ளி or Shallots is a common ingredient in South Indian cooking. I was having my lunch and it was summer time. My mom had prepared Rye (bajra) porridge , which is usually accompanied with raw shallots.

We were asked to pick up a natural object that intrigued us, so we can work on developing surfaces based on the object. I was struggling to find a interesting object until I sat for lunch. There was a sudden spark I sensed when I bit the shallot. And there begins the journey!

Marudam Farm School
Marudam, is an alternative Education Forum that promotes hands on education. They are situated in Tiruvanamalai, Tamil Nadu. Students of Marudam learn through inter cultural interactions, experiments and other informal methods. They are introduced to many topics like gender equality, sex education, philosophy, sustainability etc. at a very young age. Children from Marudam are more mindful, mature and mentally very stable. It works on kindering the curiosity of the young individuals.

They are encouraged to practice afforestation. As a part of their school activity they hike to the near by hills and plant saplings there. They carry the saplings in old gunny bags, rucksacks or cement bags. This tends to damage the saplings.

Hence, I have come up with a sapling backpack that can be used to carry saplings.
