On 23 July 2018 wildfires started in few places in Attica. At night due to very strong wind gusts in the area both wildfires spread quickly which were up to 124 km/h,12 Beaufort. The flames were so intense that they trapped and burned people inside their houses, cars, or a few metres away from the beach. The city of Mati was completely consumed by the fire. The disaster took lifes of 102 people including 2 Polish nationals drowning while trying to escape by boat. 

Those photos were taken a day after the tragedy while i was helping a Polish news crew to cover the story. Now, three years after the tragedy I publish them for the first time.
