CO-RESPONSIBILITY
ABOUT THE PROJECT;
CO-RESPONSIBILITY is the initiative of Polish and Turkish students from the Wroclaw Academy of Fine arts, realized in terms of Studio of Multimedia Space Creation of the Department of Graphics and Media Art under the supervision of dr Robert Sochacki and Wojtek Radtke (Gdańsk Academy of Fine arts). The project was created based on plenty artistic solutions and research, inspired by Odra river’s proximity, alongside with the deep longing for being together – in terms of arts,
but also in relation to society and environment.
We’re the representers of one kind. As co-habitants, we represent various lifestyles, both human and non-human, we live along each other and co-depend, share the space, air, water and food. Turns out that we’re inseparably bounded with each other and with the environment. Being the creatures of the nature and living within the nature, we’re the unity.
Paying the attention to the massive problem of mutual understanding and everywhere existed conflict we conclude that we too easily began to treat ourselves as separate and independently existing units. Divisions and the war for individuality came too easy. Every action and decision we make affects the fate of the rest, and thus ourselves. Our manifesto is a chance to act together. It’s a symbolic hugging in the feeling of unity and acceptance, showing the awareness of our strength of being
next to each other.

CO-RESPONSIBILITY project - The final of performance
With woven tissue, we will go to give away our manifesto to the river. Our transition will require us to be sensitive to the rest of the group and to cooperate with us very tenderly: each of us will stick to the tissue that will bind us together - so the whole group will feel the movement of a single individual. When one person speeds up, he will drag everyone with them. When one person stops, the rest will also have to stop because they will feel the resistance of the tissue. Cooperation here will be the only way to prevent our tissue from getting stretched, torn or damaged. Thanks to this, we will be one organism. When we reach the goal of our walk together, we will gather on the banks of the river to put the tissue together in the water, return it to the river - according to the Turkish tradition of giving away our thoughts and worries to the water.
Therefore, let us be sensitive to the consequences of our actions, let us take care of each other, let us be tender for the world - and the world will be sensitive to us!
