Aasmi is a deep fried, mesh like traditional Sri Lankan sweet made of rice flour and coconut milk, with a caramel drizzle on top. This promotional takeaway packaging was designed for Ceylon Tea truck Melbourne, Australia. The goal was to create a packaging in which, a Sri Lankan living abroad would proudly share their island delicacies, with the rest of the world.
The packaging form is pasting free and can be shipped and stored in flat format.
With a series of experiments on expressive typography, Sinhala letterforms are used to create familiarity and resemblance,
while the unique product characteristics such as the light & airy nature and intricate texture of Aasmi, are visualized.
