"I visualize my future to be..."

A submission I made for The Loop Figure Out digital illustration contest.
I visualize my future to be so bright, you’ll have to wear sunglasses.

Perfectionism is an old friend of mine. I used to always hide my work, always threw my pieces away, and I even stopped making art for a while because I was ashamed that it didn’t look good enough. I used to think that I wasn’t capable of making art.

However, the pandemic had me stuck at home with only my tools and I to steer away the boredom I was trying to avoid for the upcoming months. What happened then? I improved. I put more time into relearning everything I used to know about art. I realized that I could get better if I was dedicated enough. This perfectionism I suffered with-- I even used it to boost myself. I knew that it was a blessing. This, combined with all the sleepless nights and busy schedules reserved just for making art, lead me up to this moment.

This is a path I look forward to. The blood, sweat, and tears were all worth it. I’m here and I’m not going anywhere but forward. I visualize my future to be bright.
